Sabrina Bazzo is a dedicated mom, wife and proud long-time resident of the Mira Mesa community. Both daughters, recently graduated, went to public school in Mira Mesa from K-12. She and her husband have been active volunteers from the classroom to the athletic field for the past 17 years. Sabrina began as a room mom in her daughter’s kindergarten class in 2002 at Sandburg Elementary. She later went on to serve as PTA President in addition to a variety of other leadership positions. Along the way she raised thousands of dollars for the school at their annual Fall Festival by creating a silent and live auction and garnering sponsorship, all with the goal of student enrichment.
She then became PTSA President at Challenger Middle School, as well as
coordinating the Reflections Art Program and working in the student store to
raise funds for PTSA programs dedicated to support the student body.
At Mira Mesa High School Sabrina served as Mira Mesa High School Foundation
President for 6 years, from 2012-2018. In addition, she was also the Committee
Chair for the Annual “Taste of Mira Mesa” (TOMM) during this time
frame. Taste of Mira Mesa is a community wide fund raiser for K-12 Mira Mesa
Schools and one of the largest of its kind in San Diego. When her youngest
daughter graduated from MMHS in 2018 she decided to hand over the leadership
reins but still serves on the Foundation as Community Liaison. She was also
President of the Class of 2018 Parent Booster Organization from 2014-2018
responsible for raising funds for senior year activities.
Over the years Sabrina has also served on Student Site Council and Student
Governance Boards at the grade school, middle school and high school as parent
representative, responsible for working with teaching and administrative staff
to make decisions regarding budget, student curriculum and general welfare of
the schools. Sabrina has also been an active volunteer, team parent and
fundraiser for AYSO soccer as well as the high school soccer and swim teams.
She also volunteered and raised funds for MMHS Cheerleading during the time her
daughter was actively on the team for 4 years, and was even a trainer Girl
Scout ‘Camping’ Mom for her youngest daughter’s troop for several years.
Sabrina currently serves as newsletter editor on the Mira Mesa Town Council
Board. In 2016 she was recognized for her many volunteer efforts as Mira Mesa
Volunteer of the Year.
Sabrina earned a Master of Arts in Public Health (M.P.H.) from San Diego
State University. She currently works as a consultant with non-profit
medical organizations including the San Diego Academy of Family Physicians.
Their primary goal is to provide high quality medical education for Family
Medicine Physicians including residents and students.
Sabrina’s amazing effort to benefit local organizations, our schools, our
community and other non-profit agencies makes her an ideal choice to serve on
the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education.
